How works

Let start from the begin: what is a rebreather?

A rebreather is a device which re-breaths the respiratory mixture we expire. The expired mixture remains inside a "respiratory loop", is canalized through a chemical absorber, inside the filter, which fixes and removes therefore the carbonic anhydride (CO2) produced by our body. The mixture gets back so towards the mouthpiece and after receiving a certain amount of oxygen from the device is recycled and the cycle starts again. The scuba diver re-breaths it, then “rebreather”.

If the respiratory mixture remains completely inside the loop, we talk about CCR (closed circuit rebreather), where the mixture is generally electronically checked. Otherwise if a little part of the mixture is exhaled outside and it is replaced with fresh mixture that provides the oxygen content, we talk about SCR (semi closed rebreather).

A mixture rebreather distinguishes from these because it has a system that, in some way, allows to check the percent of O or PpO and these differences characterize the various kinds of rebreathers. In this way the depth limits are higher and depend on the type of used mixture.
Let leave the closed circuits to the experts, who has a long experience in rebreather field as their use requires a hard training and the maximum attention. Who decides the amount of oxygen to be supplied to the scuba diver is a computer, which at his time receives the realtime gas analyser data. Even if we admit that all these details are robust and reliable in the time, the complete preparation to the immersion and the maintenance will be therefore rather long and complex. Furthermore the scuba diver will have to be prepared to react quickly to any anomalous situation.

Instead SCR rebreather, definite by us "recreative", is similar as concept of immersion to the open circuits: this means very simple systems and which allow quiet recreational dives without the risk to be suddenly in a dangerous situation.
A semi-closed rebreather with respect to a closed is simpler to use and to do maintenance, especially for dives up to the 40 meters.

All our rebreather are SCR

The immersion with a SCR are not difficult or limited to few experts, but are only different. In other words, a specific training is necessary, exactly as for the open circuit. With SCR rebreathers it is possible diving very safely and quietly without necessarily going out of the decompression curve
